Arts Galleries

We have a range of spaces across the City of Onkaparinga to display quality original art work in public.

The more traditional art spaces include the Arts Centre, Port Noarlunga, which boasts three gallery spaces. The Foyer and Onkaparinga Galleries show works from emerging and professional contemporary visual artists and community arts groups. The focus of the Red Rover gallery is the heritage and historical aspects of Port Noarlunga and the region.

The Stump Hill Gallery is situated at the McLaren Vale Visitor Centre and is a showcase for artists from the McLaren Vale and Fleurieu regions.

The notion of taking the arts to the people is strong in Onkaparinga. Every opportunity is taken to bring high quality artworks to the public in non-traditional art spaces. Our own civic area and Council Chamber in the Noarlunga Centre display works from the City of Onkaparinga’s collection, and travelling displays of artists feature as part of the festivals and major events held throughout the city.

Our six public libraries also regularly host artworks from individual and group exhibitions. The Aberfoyle Hub Library plays host to the Bittondi Print Collective which is based in the grounds of Aberfoyle Park High School.

There are a number of smaller private galleries dotted throughout the city which tend to be organised by artist collectives. Larger gallery spaces are also found within wineries throughout the city and the Fleurieu region.

Several artists also open their studios during the annual South Australian Living Artists Festival (SALA) or by appointment, and some of these can be found through the Artist Trail brochure.
