Events & Festivals

The City of Onkaparinga is a vibrant, creative place which hosts and sponsors a huge array of exciting events each year and is actively involved in over 180 events annually produced by robust Arts, Community Development, Libraries, Sport and Recreation and Tourism programs.

These community events include the McLaren Vale Vintage and Classic, Harvest Festival, Willunga Almond Blossom Festival, SA Reader’s and Writer’s Festival and many others which deliver significant benefits to tourism and the local economy.

In addition to a diverse range of supported events held throughout the year and region the City of Onkaparinga hosts three annual flagship events. These major events attract over 240,000 visitors annually and contribute an estimate of $11 million dollars into the economy. This annual major events calendar includes the Santos Tour Down Under which winds its way through the region in January each year, the Beachside Food and Wine Festival which is a seaside showcase of our region’s finest offerings and the tier one sponsored Sand Sculpture Exhibition, a spectacular display of themed sand sculptures carved by some of the world’s best artists of the craft. These events are scheduled on an annual basis by the City of Onkaparinga and advertised broadly once approved.
