Food - charities and community organisations

The Food Act 2001 has a number of legislative requirements in the way that Charities and Community Organisations conduct their business.

This legislation applies to every Charitable or Community Organisation that meet the definition of a “food business” under the Food Act 2001. The most significant is the need for Charities and Community Organisations to notify their existence to Council.

There is no charge for the notification process and you need only complete one notification no matter how many different types of food handling/selling activities your organisation may be involved with.

For more information on how you and your business can comply with all the changes please read the brochures or contact our environmental health department on 8384 0628.
