Healthy communities

We are committed to the safety, health and wellbeing of our communities. We want to create strong communities across our region that lead, participate in and contribute to our city. We seek to achieve strong and healthy communities through a range of health initiatives and environmental health work.

Some of our health initiative programs include Healthy Active Lifestyle Onkaparinga (HALO) and Onkaparinga Active Community Network (OACNET).

The Healthy Active Lifestyles Onkaparinga (HALO) program offers a range of sporting and recreational opportunities and events, including free come and try activities for the local community, encouraging people to get active and feel healthy. For further information on our events and activities visit our HALO site.

The Onkaparinga Active Community Network (OACNET) is a network of sport, recreation and leisure providers working together with government to increase the numbers of people participating in active pastimes.

Our environmental health team works to address the physical, chemical, biological and social factors that impact on human health.
