'Celebrating Positive Ageing'

Our Every Generation Onkaparinga (EGO) ‘Celebrating Positive Ageing’ program celebrates the outstanding achievements and valuable contributions people of all ages, cultures and abilities make to ‘positive ageing’ in our communities. During the month of October various events and activities are held for people to come together to celebrate and acknowledge these achievements and contributions.

EGO includes the following:

  • a volunteer group, including community members
  • grants, supporting community groups to run their own events and activities
  • awards, recognising local groups and individuals for outstanding achievements and contributions to the community
  • community events, acknowledging and celebrating the contribution that people of all ages, cultures and abilities make to ‘positive ageing’ in our local communities

What is Positive Ageing?

The Australian Psychological Society defines ‘positive ageing’ as “the process of maintaining a positive attitude, feeling good about yourself, keeping fit and healthy, and engaging fully in life as you age”.
