Library volunteers

Our libraries play an important role in lifelong learning for our communities by assisting people to source and share information. Libraries are very different today - there’s a whole lot more than books. Patrons can surf the net, browse a magazine, or play music. Our great team of over 100 volunteers help to make our libraries stimulating and inviting spaces.

Volunteer orientation

All successful volunteer applicants must attend an orientation session prior to starting as a volunteer.  This ensures that all our volunteers receive information about volunteering within the council Volunteer Program and are prepared prior to starting their volunteer role.  This Volunteer Orientation Handbook provides further details about being a volunteer with the City of Onkaparinga.

The City of Onkaparinga is committed to ensuring its Volunteer Management Framework fulfils the expectations of the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement (Volunteering Australia).
