The City of Onkaparinga is responsible for the enforcement of parking controls. Their enforcement is regulated by state law and is the same for all councils.

Expiation notices (fines) are issued under the Expiation of Offences Act 1996. If you park illegally, you can be issued with an expiation notice. This notice may be handed to you, secured under a windscreen wiper blade of your vehicle or it can be sent to you in the mail.

You must on or before the due date:

  1. Pay the expiation fee OR
  2. Apply to the Magistrates Court or Youth Court to pay the fee in instalments OR
  3. If you were not driving at the time of the offence submit a statutory declaration stating the name and address of the driver, the driver’s licence number and the driver’s date of birth if available OR
  4. Dispute the allegation that you committed the offence and/or apply for a review of the expiation notice OR
  5. Elect to be prosecuted
