Onkaparinga Water Services

The City of Onkaparinga’s Water Business Unit manages the city’s water reuse scheme constructed through its Water Proofing the South initiative and its Community Wastewater Management Scheme (CWMS).

These schemes:

  • provide an affordable fit for purpose alternative to mainswater supplying water for the irrigation of parks and reserves, schools and sports fields as well as meeting commercial, agricultural, industrial, construction and municipal demands
  • have capacity to provide water for dual reticulation (purple pipe) schemes retrofitting existing or for new development urban areas
  • service a number of areas with domestic wastewater services where they are not serviced by SA Water sewer. In some circumstances, these services extend to an ability to provide a disposal path for liquid waste from any industry, business, trade or manufacturing premises (trade waste).

The Essential Services Commission of South Australia licensed the City of Onkaparinga to provide these retail services in line with the Water Industry Act 2012 (South  Australia).
