Waste & recycling

The City of Onkaparinga offers several options for recycling and waste disposal; including kerbside collections, green organics alternatives, hard rubbish and mattress collections and a range of other services to support our community.

Bins are collected Monday to Friday, including all public holidays except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. On these two days and the remaining days of those weeks, collections will occur a day later than your usual collection day.

Bins must be out for collection by 6am on the nominated collection day or the night before. This time may change during periods of extreme hot weather.

Calendars are delivered to households in June each year. To manage the delivery as efficiently and cost effectively as possible, they are delivered with advertising materials, so remember to check your junk mail deliveries carefully!

If you haven't received yours, you can pick one up from any of our customer service offices or libraries. Alternatively you can use our Bin Collection Dates search tool or download the My Local Services phone app.

Beyond the Bin

The average Australian throws away 1.5 tonnes of waste per year and most of it goes in our kerbside bins. So when you wheel your bins out to the kerb, do you ever think about what happens to its contents?

There is no ‘away’ when we throw stuff away, so where does it go? What happens to it? Where does it end up?

Watch our Beyond the Bin clip to find out.
