Education and support

It is widely acknowledged that South Australians lead the way when it comes to recycling in Australia, however many of us are still recycling the way we did it 5-10 years ago. Recycling has changed significantly in the last few years; however we are not keeping pace. Audits of bins have shown that some materials are being placed in the wrong kerbside bin.

To support our community to embrace these changes around recycling, we employ a Waste and Recycling Education team to provide recycling and waste management advice, educational support or practical guidance for residents, community groups, schools and businesses.

These services and resources are provided free of charge to our community.

How can we help you?

Composting at home

You can halve your weekly waste levels with backyard organic recycling. We can show you how to set up a compost bin, worm farm or Bokashi and help solve some of those problems you might be having with your own at home.

In spring and autumn we offer information sessions at various locations throughout our council area:

  • Introduction to Composting – covering the basics of bin composting, worm farming and Bokashi composting
  • How to make your own Bokashi mix workshops
