Luminous Flux showcases three

Australian photographers who selectively

use handheld light sources during the

creation of long exposure photographs.

Peter Solness (Shimmer’s 2016 Artist

in Residence) is regarded as Australia’s

foremost practitioner of light based

photography. Solness uses light to explore,

interpret and interrogate his subject.

“In making the artistic choice to light each

vista, Solness reinvents each scene before

him, adding a dream-like nocturnal beauty

to every photograph”. Showing alongside

Solness, local photographers Sara Huffen

and Sam Oster use the technique in their

own particular way. Oster using light

subtly to suggest electrical flow in the

landscape, whilst Huffen uses the process

to transform, enrich and clarify different

parts of the environment.

The Noarlunga and Southern District

Camera Club has held its Annual

Photography Exhibition at the Arts Centre

for the past 15 years. The exhibition is a

public display of works by members of

this camera club.
