I’m proud to welcome you

to the 2016 Shimmer

Photographic Biennale,

the fourth time the City of

Onkaparinga has presented

this one of a kind photographic

event in our beautiful region.

Held throughout the month of September,

Shimmer is a series of exhibitions, events,

photographic workshops, and artist

talks staged across 15 distinctive and

photogenic venues in Port Noarlunga and

the McLaren Vale wine precinct.

This year’s geographic concentration

allows us to highlight the region’s innate

flair for hosting and producing quality

art events, while celebrating the area’s

excellent food and world-class wines.

Shimmer celebrates the work of 30

emerging and established contemporary

local and interstate photographers

including Mark Kimber, Emma Hack,

Peter Solness, and collective groups such

as Skrambled Eggs.

MAYOR’SWELCOME

A choice of workshops will provide

opportunities to learn about light based

processes and techniques, develop new

skills in the Tintype Traveller, a pop up

caravan darkroom, or focus on creating

culinary images good enough to eat.

This year the City of Onkaparinga will

also launch the inaugural Shimmer

Photographic Time-lapse Competition to

encourage photographers to highlight

their time-lapse prowess.

The winner and finalists will be

announced and their work exhibited at

the launch of Shimmer, at the Arts Centre

in Port Noarlunga on Friday 2 September.

Shimmer continues to shine as a quality

arts event and an undisputed highlight

on the arts festival calendar.

I warmly welcome you all to Shimmer

and to our beautiful city.

Mayor Lorraine

Rosenberg
