Entering its fourth biennial

cycle, Shimmer will shine

throughout Port Noarlunga

and the beautiful McLaren Vale

region, with an illuminate array

of exhibitions, workshops, artist

talks and events.

This year we introduce the inaugural

Shimmer Photographic Time-lapse

Competition utilising the captivating allure

of time lapse photography to showcase our

city, the winners and shortlisted finalists

of which are included in the program.

Celebrating our reputation as an art, food

and wine destination, the photographic

biennale sparkles for the month of

September as over 35 emerging and

established artists and photographers

interlink with their host venues to

sublimate their finest for your viewing and

tasting pleasure.

We would like to take this opportunity to

acknowledge all who have supported the

Shimmer vision from the past and into the

future. A heartfelt thank you goes to all the

artists who have produced such an eminent

range of inimitable work, and for providing

images and text explaining their work in

this booklet.

We are most grateful for your willingness

to share so generously of your visions,

craft and skills.

Thank you to the participating venues

for their substantial support of our

talented artists, and for enlivening the

local arts industry. Without your ongoing

investment in the future of the arts of

this region, our artists would operate

without a local platform and the region’s

reputation as an arts destination would

be culturally diminished.

And finally, we thank our sponsors

for their generous assistance and

unwavering contribution, particularly our

major sponsor, Red Poles, whose donation

of inexhaustible time and energy has

been integral for the successful delivery

of this event.

With kind regards we welcome you to

2016 Shimmer Photographic Biennale and

trust this incandescent program brings the

light, colour and magic of photography a

little deeper into your world.
